Silence – Solitude – Contemplation – Relationships
Solitude
Solitude is not loneliness neither is it a sterile waiting for something to happen. It is rather a place of encounter, of growth and of joy.
Prayer
Contemplative prayer is a gift of grace. We do not earn it, not do we achieve it by our own efforts. Our part is simply to remain faithful, responsive and open to God's work within us. Contemplation is nothing else but a secret, peaceful, and loving infusion of God, which, if admitted, will set the soul on fire with the Spirit of love.
Silence
We try to create an atmosphere of silence both within the Monastery and within ourselves. John of the Cross says "Silence is God's first language." And "It is great wisdom to know how to be silent and to look at neither the remarks, nor the deeds, nor the lives of others".
Why Carmel?
There is so much to know about life in Carmel and yet it is a simple,
hidden yet fruitful way of living within the Christian community,
and being part of a living Church.
- A life of prayer
- Community
- Silence and Solitude
- Deep Peace
