How often we do not know the people closest to us! Jesus has to be discovered day after day. Peter acknowledged Him as the Christ but wanted Him to be different from the suffering Messiah. It is such a challenge to love people enough to let them be who they are without trying to control them; to make them into what we want them to be. Even for ourselves, it is so easy to settle for what looks good and gains approval. “Who does God say that you are?” That is what you are called to be, that requires following Jesus on that same path of integrity. “If anyone wants to be a follower of mine… but remember ..anyone who loses his life for my sake, and for the Gospel, will save it. Paradoxical, but so true. There is a sense of life, freedom and peace when our reference point is within – that centre where we spring from the creative hand of God.
